Project Zomboid Admin Command Generator

Pick a command, fill in the blanks, and copy the exact syntax your server expects. The biggest gotcha in Project Zomboid is that the server console uses commands with no slash, while the in-game admin chat needs a leading /. This tool shows you both.

Promotes or demotes a whitelisted user. The user must already be on the whitelist (run Add user first), and from the SERVER CONSOLE there is no leading slash.

Server console (no slash)
setaccesslevel "" admin

In-game admin chat

/setaccesslevel "" admin

Names are case sensitive. Match the player’s display name exactly. If setaccesslevel says the user is not on the whitelist, run adduser first, then try again.

Access & moderation

— Creates a whitelisted account. On an open server you must run this before you can promote someone with setaccesslevel.
— Promotes or demotes a whitelisted user. The user must already be on the whitelist (run Add user first), and from the SERVER CONSOLE there is no leading slash.
— Disconnects a player. An optional reason is shown to them.
— Bans by username. Tick Ban IP to also block their address, and add an optional reason.
— Removes a username ban.
— Mutes or unmutes a player’s in-game voice.

Players & items

— Spawns an item into a player’s inventory. Use the full module.item id. Leave the username blank to give it to yourself.
— Spawns a vehicle on or near a player.
— Grants XP in a perk. Perk names are the internal ones, e.g. Woodwork, Cooking, Strength, Fitness, Aiming.
— Makes a player invulnerable. Leave username blank for yourself.
— Zombies stop noticing the player. Leave username blank for yourself.
— Lets a player walk through walls. Leave username blank for yourself.
— Teleports one player to another. Leave the first box blank to teleport yourself to the target.
— Teleports you to a map coordinate (x,y,z).

World & events

— Sends a message to every player. Note: "say" is NOT a valid command, servermsg is the one that works.
— Starts the helicopter event, which draws zombies toward a random player.
— Plays a gunshot sound event that attracts nearby zombies.
— Spawns a number of zombies near you.
— Starts or stops rain across the map.
— Sets off an alarm in the room you are standing in. You must be inside a building.

Server management

— Prints the list of currently connected players.
— Forces a full world save without shutting down.
— Triggers a SaveAll and then shuts the server down cleanly. The safe way to stop a PZ server.
— Changes a servertest.ini option without a restart, e.g. PVP, PauseEmpty, SafehouseAllowRespawn.
— Prints the current server option values.
— Reloads server options from disk and pushes them to connected clients.
— Releases the safehouse claim on the building you are in.

Where to run these

  • Server console: type the command with no slash (what the Copy button gives you).
  • In-game: as a promoted admin, open chat and prefix with a slash, e.g. /additem "Bob" "Base.Axe" 1.
  • On a Zeros Host server, the Console tab is a live server console, so these run exactly as shown.

Good to know

  • There is no say command. Use servermsg to broadcast to players.
  • Always stop a server with quit, which saves first. Killing the process can corrupt the world.
  • Struggling with admin not sticking? Our admin commands guide covers the whitelist and slash gotchas in detail.
